Biography:
Every actress dreams for a start wherein you get nominated for your first film. Shilpa Shetty was amongst the few who got nominated for her first film 'Baazigar'. Her career graph reach a highpoint when the following year she delivered another blockbuster hit 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' where she starred with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan.
However,the year after that her movies began to bomb at the box office though her performance in it was appreciated. Then in 1998, 'Pardesi Babu' released and people noticed her again. Two years after that she finally delivered a super hit, 'Dhadkan'. Since then her career has taken an upturn. In 2002, films like 'Hathyar' and 'Rishtey' solidified her status as a brilliant actress. However in 2004 her performance in 'Phir Milenge' brought her to the top actress list. In 2005, she delivered modest hits like 'Fareb' and Dus.
Today her career talks about her versatility. In 'Baazigar' she played a naive college student, in 'Aag' a charming village girl, in 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' a street dancer, in 'Himmat' a seductive cop, in 'Dus' an anti-terrorist agent, in 'Fareb' a doctor and housewife, in 'Phir Milenge' an HIV positive, in 'Pardesi Babu' a charming city lass, in 'Dhadkan' she is forced to betray her lover, in 'Khamosh' a prostitute, in 'Jung' a sensational club dancer, in 'Tarkieb' a promiscuous military nurse, in 'Rishtey' a comical and tragic performance as a fisherwoman, in 'Darna Mana Hai' a housewife haunted by apples and in 'Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar' a negative role where she plays a model turned housewife.
In 2000, Shilpa reinvented herself and became known as one of the hottest actresses in the industry! Shilpa went to school at St. Anthony's Girl's Convent in Chembur, after which she went to Podar College.
Shilpa was her school team's baseball captain. She is a black belt karate champion. She actively participated in her father's chemical business. Acting was the only thing she had not tried her hand at.
Personal Life:
Shilpa’s love life was always on the spotlight. She previously dated Akshay Kumar, but they broke up in 2000 after he started dating actress Twinkle Khanna. Later it was said that she was dating film director Anubhav Sinha which she denied. She eventually married businessman Raj Kundra on 22 November 2009 and announced on her web site that "I am officially Shilpa Shetty Kundra now!!"
Controversy:
In May 2003 Shulpa faced the worst controversy where it was reported that her parents share links with the Indian underworld. The Surat police issued arrest warrants against her parents on charges of extortion. On 5 November, 1998 it was reported that Surendra and Sunanda Shetty, among three others, were chargesheeted, paving the way for a trial commencement in a local court. The trial is still pending.
In April 2006, she faced another controversy wherein a Madurai court issued non-bailable warrants against Shetty and Reema Sen for "posing in an obscene manner" in photographs published by a Tamil newspaper.
She also came in news during her on Celebrity Big Brother. Shetty was allegedly a target of racism and bullying by other housemates, chiefly by Jade Goody. Channel 4 was asked to apologize for the same.
Fashion:
Shilpa Shetty is known to have the best body in Bollywood. She has introduced Bollywood to never ending legs, handspan waist and an hourglass figure with which she has the ability to carry off any attire on her. She looks best and classy in saree which enhances her figure. She has made her set of fashion blunders but still manages to rank amongst the fashionable people.
