The American born – Pakistani origin singer- songwriter Nadia Ali is touring India at the moment. She has her tour planned to played live in five different cities across the country. In her last leg of the India tour, she will be performing at Stone Water Grill, Pune.
The queen of vocals, Nadia has a huge fan following across the world and a whole generation of youth follows her in India. She said, “I loved touring in India and I feel overwhelmed at the amazing response from the fans here.”
She feels, “The music scene in India is growing and the new gen youth is more upbeat and aware of electronic and trance music than before and the market for such artists in India will expand in the coming years.”
Nadia’s India tour began in Goa on the 1st June. “I have perfomed in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and its Banglore and Pune after this. This is a part of my world tour which ends in July in Amsterdam.”
Nadia Ali, an absolute vocal prodigy has her roots in Libya, but has grown up on the global music scene after her first single Rapture stormed the U.K Singles Chart by gaining the most coveted number 2 position.
She has many popular numbers up her sleeve that have made it to top charts abroad. Her recent track “Love Story" was recently nominated for the Best Progressive/Tech House track at the Winter Music Conference, 2010 and International Dance Music Awards, 2010. It is also Goa’s Sunburn’s festival anthem for 2010!
In 2006, her single “Is it Love” got her to the number 1 position on the US Billboard Dance Chart.
She has collaborated with Armin Van Buuren, Rosko, Roger Sanchez and Deep who are some of the world’s finest DJ’s.
In 2009, her single “Love Story” once again topped the Billboard`s Hot Dance Club Play Chart, rendering her as truly unstoppable. Multi talented Nadia also provided vocals for the track “Feels So Good” by Armin Van Buuren, which was released on his latest album ‘Mirage.’
“On my tour my chart toppers will be the highlight of the performance. “Is it Love”, “Rapture” and “The Love Story” are amongst the most popular choices of my fans and they get to groove on these and all other popular collaborations during this tour”, said Nadia.
The club culture in India has gone global in the recent years. There is awareness amongst the youth on different genres and not just the usual hip-hop and pop music.
“I feel music brings the world together and its good to see globalization of club culture and the rise in trend towards trance and electronic music, it is a revolutionary evolution to find recognition in fans and have followers from all across the world. It inspires an artist in a way that can’t be explained in words” says the queen of vocals.
In the past one year many trance and electronic artists have toured India and have received a brilliant response. Artists such as Armin Van Buuren, Above and Beyond, Gareth Emery have had successful concerts in India over the past year.
India is still considered virgin in context of global music and clubbing trends. But it can be an opening market for many artists from abroad given the way the modern youth is internationally aware and growing fond of newer and more inventive form of music.
Nadia Ali feels elated with the warm welcome she has received in India and wishes to be back for another tour soon.
